8th Grade Preview Night
If you have a child joining the freshman class in the 2024 -2025 school year, on behalf of the 9th Grade Success Team we'd like to invite all of you to attend this year's upcoming 8th Grade Preview Night on Wednesday, April 10th from 6:00-7:30pm!

6:00pm - 6:30pm - Assembly in the Main Gym 
6:30pm - 7:30pm - Breakout Sessions

P/NP Deadline
As a reminder, per GRACC policy students and parents can requests a P/NP grading scale in your course up to two weeks after midterm grading.  This gives us a deadline of April 26th to get the forms turned in and plans laid for students.  This is often an important support for a student that may show signs of struggling at the halfway point in their courses.  

Agreement on a Pass/No Pass grading option must be agreed upon by student and

teacher. A teacher or counselor must submit the Pass/No pass approval form no later

than two weeks post quarter grading day.


Courses with a P/NP grade do not have an impact on the GPA and they are not weighted.

Students and Parents need to discuss the impact of a P/NP on a transcript with a teacher

or counselor. There can be impacts of choosing this grading option on post-secondary

education options. Once a P/NP grading option is agreed upon, that decision is final.

The process for a P/NP should be done in writing (an email will suffice) with the parent/care giver of the student.  The P/NP form must be submitted to the counseling office and include a copy for the grade level administrator.  www.nehs.4j.lane.edu/counseling

March Students of the Month
We are a little behind in honoring our Students of the Month. We will take this opportunity to highlight our March Students of the Month. and our IB Learner Spotlight for the trait of BALANCED.

9th grade Student of the Month - Nathan Farrell 


Nathan is an overall great student and great human being. I am always seeing him in a positive light interacting with his peers, in the classroom and in the hallways. He always stays after class to help clean up even if the mess wasn't made by him. He is kind, respectful and overall a wonderful person to be a part of our NEHS community!



10th grade Student of the Month - Natalie Rodriguez



Natalie Rodriguez is resilient. She consistently attends Focus homework club and studiously works on her assignments. Her positive attitude and tenacity have really stood out during semester 1. This chick rocks!



11th grade Student of the Month - Zane Lloyd


Zane has been an immense help in my class and a great peer and support to other students in need.



12th grade Student of the Month - Kevin Bazan-Garcia


Kevin is a top-level student, showing excellence in all he does. He is conscientious, prepared, and always in class and on time. His work is thorough and thoughtfully written and he is well-spoken in his presentations. He exemplifies Highlander PRIDE.


IB Learner Spotlight: Balanced - Sam Blake


Sam is an amazing scholar-athlete-human. I am not sure how he bends the time-space continuum to have more hours in the day than the rest of us to study, run, mock trial and Key Club, but that is who he is. And after all of that he still has a smile on his face and compassion for everyone around him. I want to be Sam when I grow up.


LSU Car Show/Cultural Event
Latine Student Union would like to formally invite you all to our upcoming event. The students are very excited and have been working hard and will be on Saturday, May 11th. 

Here at North Eugene LSU will be hosting a car show/cultural event. There will be food trucks, music, Lowriders, and all sorts of cars.

There will be dance performances by two local community groups, and we hope to have community organizations present as well.
This event is FREE TO THE PUBLIC. Those who are registering or entering the car show will be asked to pay a fee to pay and fundraise for the expenses of the event. If you know someone who wants to bring their car whether its a classic or newer car let them know to register. GENEVA SCHOLARSHIP 
  Are you a NEHS dancer, band member, choir member, or part of our theatre program?? If so, keep reading.
   The $5,000 PERFORMING ARTS Scholarship is now open!! (Yes, $5,000!)
   The scholarship is open to any senior engaged in the performing arts at North (Dance, Theatre, Band, Choir) for at least 2 years. Minimum GPA 3.0. Letter of recommendation from a Performing Arts NEHS teacher/stff required. Due April 15th.

4J COMMUNITY NEWS
Learn to Ride a Bike

Do you or your child want to learn how to ride a bike? 
Join 4J Safe Routes to School and partners at either or both of these all-ages, free, learn to ride a bike events this spring. Helmets and bikes will be provided, or bring your own. 

Remember, these events are free and are for people of ALL AGES who do not yet know how to ride a bike!
The Eugene Family YMCA - CIT program
Hello families! The Eugene Family YMCA is once again operating our CIT (counselor in training) program. It will be open this summer to 10th-12th graders. CITs can volunteer and participate in our many summer camps alongside YMCA staff who will foster their leadership skills and encourage them to take part in our community. This is a great program for any youth interested in working with kids, teaching, outdoor school, or as a camp counselor someday. It involves lots of interaction with campers, sunny days outside, and so much fun!

In order to become a CIT, there is an application process. They will be expected to complete an online application and attend an interview and staff training.The link to our application is here - due by April 30th and requires a guardian signature and at least 1 reference.
Summer Camp | Eugene Family YMCA
Eugene YMCA Child Care Camps for Preschoolers, K-5th, Tweens and Teens focus on summer fun, plenty of sunshine, and empowering all youth to embody the core values of Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, and Caring. We have transportation to field trips. Youth get to swim, play sports and games, do activities and crafts, sing songs, and learn! Counselor in training CIT program

Ophelia's Place Teen Webinar 
 
We all know “the talk” and puberty can be tough conversational topics for both teens and adults alike. 
 
I’d like to invite your staff and the parents you work with to join us for a really wonderful webinar on April 25th. Our own River Aaland will provide a safe and comfortable space to help adults learn a few best practices when supporting youth with those (sometimes embarrassing) topics like sexual health, puberty and periods, romantic interest, and so much more.
