And whew… what a week. ❤️💛
New schedules. New classrooms. New routines. A LOT of questions. A LOT of people in the hallways. A few bumps along the way. 😅 But we made it ... and we did pretty darn well.
Thank you to our students for showing up and figuring it out with us, to our staff for working incredibly hard to get this year off the ground, and to our families for your patience, flexibility, and support during a very busy first week.
We are officially underway, Highlanders.

📣 NEHS ATTENDANCE: HERE’S HOW IT WORKS
Every Student Attends. That’s 4J’s focus this year, and at North we’re working toward 90%+ attendance for every student. ❤️💛
We also know students get sick, have appointments, and sometimes need to leave school early. So here’s the easiest way to communicate with us:

You can now submit an attendance note electronically through ParentSquare when you receive an attendance notice.
IMPORTANT: You cannot simply reply to the attendance notification text or email. You must submit the attendance note through ParentSquare, or use our email or attendance phone line.
When reporting an absence or early dismissal, please include your student’s name, date and/or class periods affected, and the reason for the absence.
Families have 48 hours (two school days) after a student returns to request that an absence be excused.
📲 ABOUT THOSE ATTENDANCE NOTIFICATIONS: Parents/guardians will receive notifications for unexcused absences each school day. These notifications cannot be opted out of, because schools are required to notify families about unplanned absences for student safety and academic reasons.
Attendance matters. Communication helps. And we’re trying to make both as easy as possible. ❤️💛

Please give the Front Office 15–20 minutes’ notice whenever possible if you're calling your student home early or out of class for an appointment.
Calling ahead gives us time to locate your student, contact their classroom, and get them headed to the office. Walking in and asking us to pull a student immediately can mean a wait — especially during passing periods, lunch, PE, or when a class is somewhere other than its usual room. Thank you for your understanding <3.

Families can order school photo packages online here:
✨ Order early! Orders received before the first Picture Day photos are processed will be shipped to NEHS for free.
Later orders may be delivered with the October retake photos or may require shipping directly to your home.

We have received reports that some families may not have received our previous parking information, so we are sharing these expectations again.
All students who drive to school must have a valid NEHS parking permit to park on campus.
We also ask families to please follow all posted traffic and parking regulations during arrival and dismissal:
- Do not park, stop, or wait in designated Fire Lanes.
- Do not idle or wait along curbs that are not designated for student pick-up.
- Please use designated parking and pick-up areas and follow posted signage at all times.
These expectations are in place to keep emergency access routes clear, traffic moving, and our students, staff, and families safe.
Thank you for helping us keep arrival and dismissal at North Eugene safe and accessible for everyone.

If you already have an LTD student bus pass, hang onto it. Your current pass should continue working through October. Bus Passes will be automatically renewed every year.
👉 Don't have one? Need a new one? We'll be issuing new bus passes that first week too. 🙌
❤️💛 If you have one? Keep the pass. Bring it to school with issues, We'll take it from there.

North Eugene High School will offer an opt-in PSAT/SAT testing opportunity on Friday, October 23, 2026 for eligible 11th- and 12th-grade students.
Who Is Testing?
11th Grade → PSAT/NMSQT
12th Grade → SAT
The PSAT and SAT can help students prepare for college and career opportunities, identify academic strengths, and connect with scholarships and other postsecondary resources.
Important for 11th-Grade Students
The PSAT/NMSQT is the only qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Program, which provides opportunities for academic recognition and scholarships. Students generally participate in the National Merit competition by taking the PSAT/NMSQT during their junior year.
ALL STUDENTS WHO WANT TO TEST MUST SIGN UP IN ADVANCE
Testing is optional, and students will not be automatically registered based on grade level.
Every student who wants to take the PSAT/NMSQT or SAT on October 23 must complete the North Eugene registration form before test day.

Students with an IEP or 504 Plan may be eligible for College Board-approved testing accommodations.
College Board accommodations are separate from school-based IEP or 504 accommodations and must be requested and approved through College Board.
If your student needs accommodations:

Important: Please DO NOT send the consent form directly to College Board. The North Eugene school team will use the completed consent form to support the College Board accommodations request process. Because accommodations require processing and approval, please return the form as soon as possible.

The North Eugene Booster Club and NEHS Parent Group have coordinated this meeting to provide information to families about ways to get involved. The meeting will include how to help your student navigate schedule changes as we start the 2026-2027 School Year. ---------------------------

This will be the Fall Membership Meeting for the North Eugene High School Booster Club, a tax-exempt nonprofit that was founded in 2023 by parents to support Highlander athletics, clubs, and extracurricular programming.
Have a student in athletics or in a club? Come to this meeting to find out how you can get involved and what we have planned for this year to support these vital programs and our students.

If your student is a junior or senior this year, they should be in at least one IB course. Starting in October, students can register to take external exams in May of this year in order to possibly earn some college credit. Stay tuned for more info about registration.
For those who don't know already, a "passing" score on an IB assessment is a 4 (out of a scale of 1-7), and is comprised of both external and internal assessments. Scores of 4 automatically earn students college credit at all Oregon public universities and community colleges, as well as many out of state and private schools around the world.

As a new school year begins, consider talking with your teen about different ways to get to school. Walking, biking, scooting, skating, busing and carpooling can all be great options - and giving teens opportunities to travel independently helps them build confidence and important life skills.
If your teen is trying a new way to get to school, help them test the route ahead of time. Pro tip: the best walking or biking route isn’t always the same route you’d drive!
