School Choice Time is here
It’s School Choice Time - See what our schools offer!

In Eugene School District 4J, students may request to enroll in any school. School choice requests are accepted in an order determined by lottery.

January is school choice season: Virtual school choice visits and in-person school visits are scheduled in the month of January. 4J residents must submit a request form between January 1 and January 31 to be included in the annual school choice lottery. Non-district residents must submit a request form for an interdistrict transfer between March 1 and March 31 to be included in the lottery.

Who needs to apply:
All students who wish to enroll in a new school other than their neighborhood school must submit a school choice request form.

This includes:
● incoming siblings of current students.
● students who have moved out of our school neighborhood or the district and want to remain enrolled next year. Their enrollment is not automatic.

Who does not need to apply:
If your student is already enrolled in our school and has not moved, you do not need to submit a request form to continue attending our school next year.

See our schools: If you or any of your friends are interested in exploring your school choice options, all 4J schools will hold virtual visits or in-person info session with an opportunity to ask questions during the month of January. Additionally, the district is holding school choice information sessions on:
● Virtual: Tuesday, January 7, 12 p.m. - in English Link to virtual meeting
● Virtual: Thursday, January 9, 6 p.m. - in English Link to virtual meeting
● In-Person: Thursday, January 16, 6 p.m. - in Spanish. Located at the main 4J office: 200 N.

COLLEGE & CAREER CENTER NEWS

Dear Class of 2025 and Parents/Guardians,
The 2025-2026 FAFSA is now open!
Why file the FAFSA? Each year, Oregonians have access to millions of dollars in state financial aid and billions of dollars in federal aid. Even if students are unsure of their plans after graduating, filing the FAFSA will give insight into the options available. There is support available for any post-high school track – certificates and certifications, 2-year degrees, and 4-year degrees. The FAFSA is the key to unlocking eligibility for different types of financial aid:
  •        Grants: Money for college you don’t have to pay back.
  •        Scholarships: Money for college based on merit, talent, or academic achievement.
  •        Work Study: Opportunities to work on campus to earn money while taking classes.
  •        Student Loans: Money students receive to help pay for college but will have to pay back.
   How to file the FAFSA
The easiest way to file the FAFSA is online at the https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa Remember, filing the FAFSA is always free. The FAFSA will never require a fee to apply. Students and parents (of dependent students) must create an FSA ID at least three days before filing the FAFSA.
Resources needed to create an FSA ID include:
  •        Social Security Number (SSN)
  •        Full legal name
  •        Date of birth
  •        Mailing address
  •        Personal email address
  •        A memorable username and password
Information needed to complete the FAFSA:
  •        FSA ID
  •        Federal income tax returns, W-2s, and other records of money earned from 2022
  •        List of any federal benefits received
  •        Asset information including bank statements and records of investments (if applicable)
  •        Records of untaxed income (if applicable)
It is strongly recommended to file the FAFSA as soon as possible. The earlier the FAFSA is submitted, the quicker colleges can send personalized financial aid packages. This will provide more time to compare options to guide decisions for the future.

   Need help with the FAFSA?
  •        The U.S. Department of Education provides email and live chat assistance for FAFSA filers as well as a helpline at 1-800-4-FED-AID
  •        FAFSA NIGHT - January 9th, 6-8pm- NEHS Library:  The College Career Center will be hosting a special evening event for all seniors and parents. The UO Financial Aid Office will be giving a small presentation about FAFSA and afterwards helping all students fill out the FAFSA.
