Hello NEHS Families,

We’ve made it through testing week, and hope your students are feeling proud of their hard work! As we move forward into mid-October, we’re getting back into the regular rhythm of classes and activities. It’s a great time to refocus, catch up on any assignments, and look ahead to the exciting events we have planned for the rest of the month. Thank you for your continued support, and let’s keep the positive momentum going!
Wishing everyone a successful and smooth week ahead.

NEHS HIGHLANDER STUDENT NEWS

IB/CTE Parent Night - October 14
Come learn more about our IB / CTE programs at NEHS! We will meet on Monday, October 14 from 7-8 pm in the NEHS Library to present information about our IB pathways, explain our CTE programs, and answer any questions you have.
This meeting will be more geared toward 9th and 10th grade families, but older students and their families are welcome to attend as well. Hope to see you there! Any questions, please email Kendall Lawless, IBDP Coordinator at lawless_k@4j.lane.edu, or Kara Walter, IBCP / CTE Coordinator, at walter_k@4j.lane.edu

IB Registration is Underway
IB Registration is underway! If your student is a junior or senior, please talk to them about IB testing this year. Students can earn between 4-12 college credits per IB subject they register for, totaling between $1000-4000 in college tuition savings! Exams costs $103 per test, but families who qualify for SNAP benefits and other federal income assistance are exempt from the fee. Please ask your student for the yellow registration form they should have received in their IB classes, or click here for a PDF copy. Payment can be made by cash, checks payable to North Eugene High School, or online with a credit card via Schoolpay. Please make sure to return forms to Joni de Saint Phalle in the front office by November 4, 2024.

PSAT/SAT MAKEUP DAY

We wanted to inform you that the district is coordinating a makeup day for the PSAT/SAT.  It’s still unclear if makeup testing will be held at multiple locations or just one. While we don’t have specific details yet regarding the date, time, or location, we will share that information with you as soon as it becomes available.

Thank you for your patience and understanding!

4J COMMUNITY NEWS

We are thrilled to announce the fall activities at Ophelia's Place in Eugene! As we gear up for a season full of connection and creativity, we’d love your support in sharing these opportunities with your community. OurAfter-School Drop-In continues to provide a fun and supportive environment for girls ages 10-18.

Halloween Downtown Eugene

Downtown Eugene Halloween event, on Saturday October 26 from 1:00pm - 6:00pm.

Halloween Downtown is the City of Eugene’s biggest and most popular event, with the express goal of bringing people from all corners of downtown to celebrate the season in a safe and festive setting. https://www.eugene-or.gov/HalloweenDowntown

As in past years, there will be trick-or-treating of more than 50 participating downtown merchants, costumed entertainment, a live DJ, food and craft vendors, ghoulish flash mobs and a pet parade to start it off! Costumes are encouraged and these activities have been especially popular with elementary school aged children in past years.

Some new attractions occurring this year for school aged children will include a haunted bus presented by Lane Transit District, a magical maze presented by Eugene Public Library, and Monster Lab, in the Broadway Commerce Center, a “build-your-own-monster” hands-on activity presented by Mecca.

One new element this year is the Monstrous Map of the Macabre, a scavenger hunt of spooky attractions that brings an appeal for older children and youth, middle school age, high school age and adults.
