As we enter this week, please note that midterm grading is upon us. If you have not already, this is a great time to ensure you are set up as an Observer in Canvas. If there are any questions about how your student is doing in class, please do not hesitate to reach out to the classroom teacher, a counselor, or grade-level admin. Please see below for some calendar updates and changes, along with information about PSAT testing and College/Career/Wellness workshops on Wednesday. We also have our first NEHS Parent Meeting of the year this week – hope to see you there! Have a wonderful week.
Since our football game last week was unable to happen due to the other team’s need to cancel, we are looking forward to hosting our halftime show and Homecoming reps presentation during the varsity football game this Thursday, Oct. 14th. We will also have a North Pride Spirit Day on Thursday!
Grades are coming – Reach out for help!
This Friday, Oct. 15th is a no-school day due to midterm grading. By the beginning of next week, midterm grades will be posted in StudentVue and ParentVue, and grades will be mailed out to families. This week is a good time to verify whether you are set up as an Observer in Canvas and to encourage your student to reach out to their teacher if they are struggling or have questions. Please see the list HERE for office hours for all teachers, or it is also linked on our website. If you have further questions, please reach out to your student’s teacher, counselor, or grade-level administrator.
College & Career Readiness Day
This Wednesday, October 13th, 10th and 11th grade students across the district will participate in (free) PSAT testing at their respective high schools. At North, students who are testing will do so with their grade-level advisory classes. Our 9th and 12th grade students will participate in workshops and activities related to college/career readiness and health/wellness. Schedule for Wednesday, October 13th: 8:30am – 12:30pm
10th & 11th grade students – complete PSAT testing in Advisory groups
9th grade students – participate in Health/Wellness/Career workshops
12th grade students – participate in College/Career workshops 12:30pm – 1:00pm
Lunch available for students 1:00pm – 3:30
Teachers will have availability for office hours during this time. Students need to connect with teachers to schedule a time or determine if their teacher will have drop-in hours. Students needing a place to study may report to the library during the afternoon. Students are not required to remain on campus if they do not need to access office hours with a teacher or stay to study/work.
Services for our Students
Again this school year, North Eugene is fortunate to have a partnership with White Bird Clinic. Once a week, staff from HOOTS are available to meet with our students. Referrals can come from the student themselves, a staff member, or a fellow student. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your student’s counselor.
