Highlander Highlights

Highlander Highlights Week #9

North Fans,
This is the part of the season where the uneasy excitement for playoffs starts to get real.  All of our teams have that feeling right now.  If boys soccer wins out, they are league champions.  If they lose one game - they might be out of the playoffs.  Our girls soccer is currently ranked two in state have the potential to host a lot of playoff games, but because the teams they are playing next week have lower rankings - even with win - they might lose a ranking.  When (if) football wins tonight, they get to practice next week not knowing if they make the playoffs or not.  Volleyball has 3rd place locked up in our league and have a waiting game to see where they will play their first round of playoffs.  Cross Country has their district meet next Wednesday and trying to make guesses of who qualifies for the State meet.  So exciting and so nerve racking.  This is one of the main reasons high school sports are so awesome!

Volleyball: They had a huge win versus Crater on Tuesday and then a tough loss to Thurston last night.  The injury bug has bit their team and they are hoping for some good healing before playoffs start.  Even without some starters returning - their future is bright. Senior night is on Tuesday - come cheer them on.
Football: They are playing Thurston tonight on Thurston's new turf field.  No more grass . It should be a fun game if you can make it out.
Boys Soccer: They are still undefeated in league play with two big games next week.  Come cheer them on! This team has most wins of a North Eugene boys soccer team in my records and working for two more.
Girls Soccer: They continue to show they are one of the best teams in the state.  Their senior night is on Friday versus Ashland.  Celebrating these seniors under Friday Night Lights will be a great time.
Cross Country: Their district race is on Wednesday in Central Point.  I will be there cheering them on and sending all of your positive thoughts.  We have the potential to send athletes to the state meet and that is always exciting.
