NEHS Principal Update

Principal’s Note
Families, it is hard to believe, but this week brings us to the close of the 2021-22 school year. Many thanks to our students, families, and staff for their hard work and perseverance through this school year. Your partnership is greatly appreciated!

Please see below for information about summer programs, book returns, construction updates, and a final shoutout to our graduates. Thank you again for a fantastic school year and we look so forward to connecting again in the fall.

Take care and have a wonderful summer!

Weekly Schedule
This week is a full five-day week and ends with the final day of the 2021-22 school year and a regular early-release schedule.
Bell schedule:

Congratulations Seniors!
A well-deserved congratulations to the Class of 2022! The rain held for most of our ceremony and we sent our seniors off with smiles and cheers. We wish them all the best in their next adventures. Well done!

Senior Information
Items to return! Please help ensure our seniors return computers and all library books that may still be checked out to them at this time. Computers and books may be returned to the front office between 8:00am-4:00pm.

Yearbook Distribution!
Our yearbooks did not arrive prior to graduation, as had previously been communicated from our publisher. We will communicate when they arrive and are ready for pickup.

Ordering graduation photos!
If you would like to order one of the professional photographs taken of your graduate yesterday during the ceremony, please refer to the details on this FLYER.

End of Trimester 3

As we approach these finals days of the trimester (and school year!), please check in with your student on how classes are going. Encouraging students to take advantage of office hours to work with teachers may be critical during this last week! A few reminders about grading as we finish the trimester:

There will be no grade of ‘F’ issued this trimester. Instead, students who do not earn a passing grade for a class will not be awarded credit and they will receive a grade of NP (No Pass). While neither mark earns credit in a class, the use of NP (No Pass) does not have an impact on a student’s GPA (unlike the F).
Students/families will have up until the last day of the trimester (June 17th) to opt to receive a grade of Pass (P) in any course, rather than a letter grade. This decision must be communicated with the course instructor. Students and families should consider any impact this may have on post-secondary plans and are encouraged to reach out to the student’s counselor if there are questions.
If there are questions, please reach out to your student’s teachers, counselor, case manager, or grade level administrator.

News from the Library
Please work with your student to ensure all library books are found and returned to our library. Notices have gone out to students and families. If students are still using materials they may remain checked out. However, students should return all books from previous trimesters and anything no longer being used this trimester. If there are any questions, please reach out:
Amary Taylor, Librarian: 541-790-4521
Denise Seibel, Textbook Specialist: 541-790-4520

A Note from Technology
Students who are returning to North Eugene next school year may keep their laptop checked out over the summer, and plan to use it again next year. If students know they will not be returning to North, please turn in your computer by the end of the week.

ASB Executive Selection
ASB (Associated Student Body) is looking for dedicated student leaders who would like to make a positive impact on our school community. If your student is interested in this opportunity, please encourage them to speak with Corey Nicholsen (located in the counseling office) or contact him at or (541) 285- 6115.

Work continues on the new building and this summer expands to our student parking lot! Please see below for a summary of what will be impacted and when, and see above for a schematic. This will not impact students for return in the fall, but student athletes coming during the summer or those attending summer intensives should be aware of where they will need to park.
Student Parking Lot will be off-line beginning 6/20/22 for construction improvements. Construction will be complete 9/2/22.
The new Sidewalk along the south of the Student Parking Lot will be open 6/20/22. This will provide access from the East Parking Lot (staff lot) to the track and baseball field. The East Lot will remain open (no construction).
Silver Lane diagonal parking along the front of the school will be off-line in late June. The diagonal parking will be replaced with a wide sidewalk, construction will be complete 9/2/22.
