NEHS Principal Update 6/7/2021

Principal’s Note

It’s hard to believe, but this week marks the end of the NEHS journey for our seniors.  Thursday is their last day, and Saturday brings graduation!  Please see below for updates and information regarding our various ceremonies and activities, and continue to be on the lookout for any additional communications via email, our website, and social media.  Congratulations in advance to all of our graduates and their families!

For our 9th-11th grade students, there are only two weeks left in this school year.  If there are questions or concerns regarding classes, please be reaching out to teachers, a counselor, or your grade-level administrator.  We are here to help students in finishing strong at the end of what has been a very challenging school year.  For those interested, please also consider the many summer program options available to students this summer!

Take care!

Senior Updates: Latest on Graduation

Below is a recap of the dates and times seniors and their families/guests need to be aware of in preparation for our in-person graduation event.

NEHS Graduation for the Class of 2021

  • Saturday, June 12th, at 2:00 pm at Swede Johnson Stadium
  • Each graduate will be able to invite up to four guests.  Please note that parties of guests will be asked to maintain proper physical distance from other parties of guests and that while masks will not be required for students, staff, or guests anyone who wishes to wear one is invited to do so.  The entire graduation ceremony will be live-streamed for those unable to attend (link we will be available on the NEHS website).
  • Guests will be able to access the stadium no earlier than 1:00 pm the day of the event, and must plan to exit the stadium at the conclusion of the ceremony.
  • As always, parking is limited.  Please consider carpooling to the event.
  • In order to facilitate the necessary physical distancing at this year’s ceremony, we will be altering the typical seating arrangements.  Graduates will be utilizing the stadium seats, while guests will take their seats in chairs on the field.  Please keep this in mind for any footwear choices, as our ceremony will be outside rain or shine!

All graduates who plan to walk in the graduation ceremony must attend a rehearsal event the morning of June 12th, at 9:00 am.  Graduates will meet in the NEHS main gym to begin rehearsal, no need for regalia at that time.  This is also the time at which graduates will receive their tickets for guests (tickets will not be handed out in advance).  Graduates should plan on reporting back to the NEHS gym to prepare for the ceremony at 1:00 pm that afternoon, with their caps and gowns.

Graduates will walk across the stage to receive their diploma covers (diplomas are mailed after grades are finalized) and have the opportunity for a professional photo which will be available for purchase from Northwest Exposures Photography.

News from the Library

Over that last year, many schools have understandably had a record-high number of books go unreturned. Please return all overdue books to NEHS as soon as possible. Books may be returned to the library during your cohort days or to the front office, MondayFriday between 8:30 am-3:30 pm. You may return items from previous years or from other schools within the 4J School District. You will not be charged fines for books that are returned, even if they are late. However, if you cannot locate the items, you will be charged the replacement cost. If paying is a hardship, please let us know and we will work with you.
