Important calendar dates for next fall.

Mid August – Back to school packets
August 26 and 27 – Registration by grade level
September 10 – 9th grade only
September 11 – all students report

2013-14 bell schedule.

The official school day will be from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm.
Classes begin at 8:00 am and end at 2:45 pm.
Students can access Open Academic Time (OAT) from 2:45 3:30 pm.

YEARBOOKS!!!

Yearbooks are being printed and are slated to ship in August. We will give them out at registration in the fall. Thanks to those who worked so hard on this year’s annual! It looks really sharp. Seniors can browse graduation photos at the www.replayit.com link. If you create yourself an account, you can browse the yearbook staff’s photos in a timeline fashion, just like you like it.

Senior Portraits are due on January 1st, 2014, so if you’re a senior, and you like summertime photos, please get yourself in front of a camera before your sunlight turns to rain in the fall. This year we are only accepting digital photos on CD. Please do not send small files as senior portraits, as they do not look good in print.
For Digital: Please ensure you submit a high-resolution photo.
300 dpi (ppi) at 2 inches X 3 inches
We would like a CMYK Photoshop JPEG or TIFF file, suitable for a mac.
Submit on CD marked “ATTENTION YEARBOOK” with senior(s) name(s) to front office at NEHS

Seniors: Last chance to order your yearbook with a credit card online. It’s still only $75 but the deadline for online ordering is June 17, 2013.

Visit www.jostens.com. Click buy a yearbook, find your school, click Add to Cart. Proceed to checkout, enter your billing info, and you’re in. Congratulations!

School Bond Measure on May Ballot

A measure that would provide local funding for Eugene public schools is on the May 21 election ballot.

The bond measure, Measure 20-210, would allow the Eugene School District to:

•       Replace aging buildings that are worn and costly to maintain
•       Provide better instructional facilities for students
•       Support effective classroom instruction by acquiring updated technology and instructional materials
•       Address student safety and security across the district

If the measure is approved, property tax rates for Eugene School District bond debt would increase by about 24¢ per $1,000 assessed value. Property taxes would increase by about $42 a year for the median homeowner in the district, with an assessed value of $174,000.

By law, bond money can only be spent on capital facilities (such as buildings, athletic fields and parking lots), equipment and technology. It cannot be used to pay for teachers, school days or school programs.

Ballots will be mailed to registered voters beginning May 3 and must be returned to the county elections office or an official ballot drop box by May 21, 8 p.m.

Propuesta de Emisión de Bonos Para el Distrito Escolar Eugene 4J

Un propuesta sobre los impuestos en plebiscito del 21 de mayo podría proporcionar fondos para las escuelas públicas de Eugene.

Los fondos obtenidos a través de la propuesta de emisión de bonos, Propuesta 20-210, le permitirían al Distrito Escolar de Eugene:

FLAME Fire Camp for Young Women happens this year from

June 17 through June 21, 2013.

Are you a young woman interested in gaining confidence

and leadership skills?

Would you like to learn what firefighting is all about?

The Eugene Fire & EMS and Springfield Fire & Life Safety

Departments are hosting a free fire camp for young women

(high school age up to 19 years old).

The goals of the camp are to build leadership and team skills,

instill confidence in young women and provide an

opportunity to try firefighting through hands-on training.

If interested, please see Liz Rommel in the College/Career Center

in Room 209 for an application packet.

The application period is now open and CLOSES on Friday, May 31, 2013.

Spring Creek Carnival and Book Fair Needs Volunteers

The annual Spring Creek Carnival and Book Fair is happening

again on Friday, May 31st from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The theme this year is “Sports” and students with a jersey or

athletic attire are encouraged to wear them.

Volunteers are needed to help:

Set up booths and prizes
Assist elementary students with carnival games and pass out prizes
Manage line for obstacle bounce house and giant slide
Assist students with craft table
Assist with book fair – maintain displays and help students find books
Assist with various carnival booths
Take down and put away games and prize
